Mike Harvey composes the beautifully sullen instrumental "Akash's Love Theme. "Dil Chahta Hai" is the finest paradigm of this fresh approach - there's an ambient electro-styled title song with infused guitar solos, a pop-oriented club/house "Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe," and the funky/progressive "Jaane Kyon." And because of the inherent qualities of Indian vocal melodies, these songs at times can easily be categorized as trip-hop. As a result, there is a wider choice of instruments that can be well accommodated arrangements ranging from minimal-techno to hardcore-jungle effortlessly facilitate the situational aspects of the film. Rahman and Vishal Shekhar, form the new crossover breed of Indian music composers, where the emphasis has moved from the earlier heavy orchestration and instrument arrangements to a more affable electronic setup without compromising the prominence of vocal melodies. Though, it was Kal Ho Na Ho that made them star composers "Dil Chahta Hai" (both the music and film) is credited for bringing freshness and a much needed change to Bollywood.
